Gardena’s first all-electric buses hit the road

GTrans is adding two new buses to its fleet — without using even one additional drop of gas!

The new vehicles are the system’s first-ever all-electric buses. Manufactured in California by BYD Motors, these long-range, 40-foot rapid transit buses operate up to 24 hours on a single charge. And GTrans riders will feel the difference.

“Gardena’s move to electric buses provides a ride that is quiet, with zero emissions, reduced hazardous waste, reduced dependence on petroleum and harnesses the sun to charge the buses without using electricity from the grid,” said Macy Neshati, Vice President of Sales, BYD Coach and Bus.

The new all-electric GTrans buses, which paraded for the general public at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 42nd Annual Celebration Parade on January 17, will be in service soon.

And these buses are only the beginning. Since acquiring their first two electric buses, GTrans now plans to add more electric vehicles to its fleet in the future!
