GTrans Line 5 runs parallel to the 105 Freeway through Hawthorne, Gardena, and Compton, providing riders with easy connections to Metro buses on El Segundo Blvd and the LAX/Metro Transit Center, offering a convenient link to LAX airport. Popular destinations along this route include Centennial High School, Hawthorne High School, Hawthorne Memorial Center, Hawthorne Sports Center, MLK Community Hospital, and Magic Johnson Park.
UPDATE (Jun 2025): GTrans Line 5 now ends at the new LAX/Metro Transit Center (MTC), replacing Aviation/LAX as its final stop. This new station provides a direct connection to LAX via a free shuttle serving all airport terminals. Access to LAX via the Automated People Mover (APM) is expected to begin as early as January 2026. Service at Aviation/Imperial Station has been relocated to street-level stops on Aviation Boulevard and Imperial Highway in both directions. Due to ongoing construction on northbound Aviation Boulevard, Line 5 is currently detoured into the LAX/Metro Transit Center.
